Having a creative side is not at all that easy.  Society needs you to be responsible because bills come every month like clockwork whether you have a job or not. Sometimes, the creative side is at war with one’s sense of responsibility.  Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi said in her article for Psychology Today<\/em> published June 2016 that \u201ccreative people combine playfulness and <\/span>discipline<\/span>, or responsibility and irresponsibility. There is no question that a playfully light attitude is typical of creative individuals. But this playfulness doesn’t go very far without its antithesis, a quality of doggedness, endurance, perseverance.\u201d  When creativity is molded into something productive is the pinnacle of creativity and to achieve that, what Csikszentmihalyi said, doggedness, endurance and perseverance is needed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Creative people handle a lot of rejection, too.  Not everything creative is considered art and is appreciated.  Jacob Rabinow said, \u201cInventors have a low threshold of pain. Things bother them.\u201d  Yet, creatives are resilient.  Imagine how voice actors do it – they hand their audition reels<\/a> in – and get rejected over and over again.  But they pick themselves up, dust themselves off and get back on track.  <\/span><\/p>\n

There are plenty of north and south poles to a creative personality – an introvert and an extrovert, rebellious and conservative, humble and proud.  Csikszentmihalyi also said, \u201cdespite the carefree air that many creative people affect, most of them work late into the night and persist when less driven individuals would not.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

So, reconcile your Mr. Jekyll and Dr. Hyde, your creative counterpart with the responsible one and celebrate your voice over talent<\/a>.  <\/span><\/p>\n
