If you’re hiring a voice for an ad, a training course, a product video or a phone system, you’ve probably looked at Voices.com and Voice123. They’re the two names most people know. This guide is for the person doing the hiring, and it explains, with facts you can check, why so many businesses end up booking on The Voice Realm instead.

We run The Voice Realm, so we’re not neutral, and we won’t pretend to be. What we can do is be specific. Every claim about Voices.com and Voice123 below comes from their own websites, and the sources are listed at the end.

1. You only hear voices that a person has already approved

The biggest difference isn’t price, it’s who’s allowed to sell. On Voices.com, a free Guest profile lets anyone create a profile and upload demos. Voice123 works the same way: every voice actor can start on a free membership and appear in its database.

That’s great for voice actors starting out. For a client, it means the screening falls to you. Post a job and you can get dozens of auditions, recorded in kitchens and cars as well as studios, and somebody has to listen to all of them.

The Voice Realm turns that around. In its own words, “Nobody signs up and starts working. Every voice actor applies with demos and is approved by a person who listens first.” Every audition you receive has already passed that test, so your time goes on choosing a voice, not filtering out the ones that were never going to work.

2. One published price, instead of a bidding war

On Voice123 you can “Cast, search, and negotiate with voice actors directly”. On Voices.com, talent quote for each job. Both approaches mean the same 60-second script can come back at very different prices, and the cheapest quote isn’t always the voice you want.

The Voice Realm publishes one rate card. The price is set by how long your script is and where it will be heard, so you know what you’ll pay before you post anything, and every voice on the shortlist costs the same. You choose purely on sound.

3. Your money is safe until the recording arrives

All three hold the client’s money while the work is done. Voices.com uses SurePay, Voice123 holds it “until the final recording is accepted”, and The Voice Realm holds the payment until the voice actor has delivered your recording.

What the homepage leads withVoice data and branded AI voicesVoice actors, plus AI voice oversScreened human voice actors

4. Built around human voices

Both of the big two have moved into AI. The headline on the Voices.com homepage now reads “Get Voice Data. Craft a Branded AI Voice. Hire Voice Over Talent.”, and Voice123’s homepage promotes AI voice overs alongside its actors. That may suit some buyers. If what you want is a real person who can take direction, react to your notes and give a read some life, The Voice Realm’s marketplace is built around exactly that: screened human voice actors, auditioning for your script.

5. A guarantee you can actually use

If you book a voice directly without auditioning first and it isn’t right, The Voice Realm’s “Wrong voice? Pick another” guarantee lets you choose a different voice. It covers jobs under 300 words, booked without an audition, and you need to ask within seven days of paying, so it’s designed for the quick, everyday jobs where a re-cast would otherwise cost you twice.

The same job, three ways

Here’s what hiring a voice for one 60-second online ad typically looks like on each site, following each site’s own process.

On Voices.com

You post the job for free and auditions start coming in, from any profile that’s matched and chooses to reply. Each actor sets their own quote, so you’ll see a spread of prices. You pick one, pay into SurePay. The money is released when the work is delivered, or automatically 14 days after the delivery deadline.

On Voice123

You post a casting project, or search the network and message actors yourself. Because anyone can join on a free membership, you’ll want time to listen carefully and shortlist. You agree a price with the actor you like. If you want your money held until the final recording is accepted, you use Secure Payment.

On The Voice Realm

You send a free casting notice with the script, the age, gender and language you want, and where the ad will run. It goes to every screened voice that matches, and every audition you receive comes from someone a person has already approved. The price comes off the published rate card, so it’s the same whichever voice you choose. You pay that rate, and the payment is held until your recording is delivered.

Same script, same goal. The difference is how much listening you do and how many prices you compare.

When Voices.com or Voice123 might suit you better

To be fair to both: if you want to browse a very large catalogue and haggle on price, Voice123’s open network gives you that. If your company also needs voice data or a branded synthetic voice, Voices.com now sells those directly. For a professional human voice on a business project, at a known price, The Voice Realm is the simpler choice.

Questions people ask

Is The Voice Realm better than Voice123 for businesses?

For most business projects, yes: every voice is screened before it can work, the price comes from one rate card rather than negotiation, and your payment is held until the recording is delivered.

How fast can I hear auditions?

Post a free casting notice and it reaches every screened voice that matches the age, gender and language you asked for, so auditions start arriving quickly. You can also ask one voice for a personal free audition.
