Voice Realm Back Room extension
Privacy policy. Last updated 30 September 2026.
The Voice Realm Back Room extension is an internal tool for people employed by The Voice Realm. It is not offered to the public and does nothing for anyone who is not signed in to our staff portal. It has one purpose: to run the staff shift clock and deliver work alerts.
What it collects, and only while you are clocked in
- Counts of keys and clicks, added up per minute. It never records which keys were pressed or what was typed.
- The site in front, as a domain name such as mail.google.com, once a minute, so a shift record can show where the work happened.
- A small screenshot of the front tab every few minutes, only when the employer has that switched on for the team. The screenshot is reduced in size before it is sent.
Nothing is collected before you press Start or after you press Stop, and nothing is collected from anyone who is not signed in to the staff portal in the same browser.
Where it goes
Everything is sent only to thevoicerealm.com, over an encrypted connection, and is stored in The Voice Realm's own systems as part of the staff shift log. It is used for hours worked, activity on shift, and the start-of-shift task record. It is not sold, not shared with anyone outside The Voice Realm, not used for advertising, and not used to decide creditworthiness or for any purpose unrelated to the shift log.
Alerts
The extension asks thevoicerealm.com once a minute whether a task or reminder has been put on your list, and shows a desktop notification when one has. That request carries your staff sign-in only.
Keeping and deleting
Shift records are kept as employment records by The Voice Realm. Removing the extension stops all collection at once. To ask about your records, or for anything in this policy, email support@thevoicerealm.com.
Permissions it asks Chrome for, and why
- Read and change data on all sites: to count keys and clicks in whichever tab you are working in, and to take the screenshot when that is switched on. It reads nothing else from the page.
- Tabs: to know which site is in front.
- Notifications: the task alerts.
- Alarms and storage: the once-a-minute clock and the counts for the current minute.
- Offscreen and scripting: to play the alert chime, and to start counting in tabs that were already open when the extension was installed or updated.
