What online casting gives you

Three things an inbox cannot.

Your script, their voice

Not a showreel of somebody else's advert. Voices record the lines you actually need, so you are comparing the job, not the demo.

Hours, not a fortnight

Most castings have auditions the same day and finished files inside two. The slow part used to be everyone's diary; now it is yours.

The price before the work

Every job is priced from the published rate card and paid to the site up front, so the voice records knowing it is covered and you know the number before you commit.

How hiring works here

Three steps, no middleman.

You deal with the voice, the site holds the money, and the price is the one on the rate card before you start.

1

Post a casting, or pick a voice

Paste a few lines of your script and post a free casting; voices who suit it read those lines back to you. Already heard the one you want? Book them straight from their profile.

2

Choose from real reads

Auditions arrive as recordings of your words in their voice, usually within hours. Pick the one that fits, or none of them. Nothing is owed until you book.

Every voice here is auditioned by a person before being listed, and the rate card is the same one they see.

In more depth

How hiring voice talent online actually goes.

What changed when voice casting moved online

Twenty years ago, hiring a voice meant ringing an agent, describing what you wanted, and waiting for a package of showreels to arrive. You judged voices on somebody else's advert, booked one on instinct, and found out whether the instinct was right on the day of the session, with a studio booked and a clock running.

Online casting reversed that order. The audition comes first, it is a recording of your own script, and it costs nothing. By the time money changes hands you have already heard the job done, which is why the decision takes an afternoon instead of a fortnight and why the awkward "it isn't quite what I imagined" conversation has largely disappeared.

Two ways to hire, and when each one wins

Post a casting when the tone matters more than the name. You write a few lines of direction, paste the script, and the voices who think they suit it record it. Ten reads of the same paragraph teach you more about your own script than a week of describing it: you hear where it drags, which sentence nobody can say cleanly, and whether it wants warmth or authority.

Book directly when you already know the voice. Every profile has a demo and a book button, and a voice you have used before can be rebooked in about a minute. Clients running a series, a course or a campaign almost always settle into this pattern after the first casting, because consistency is worth more than novelty once the audience knows the voice.

What separates a professional from a good speaker

Plenty of people have a pleasant voice. What gets paid for is everything around it: taking direction on the second pass without sulking, hitting a thirty second slot without sounding rushed, keeping the same energy in take nine as in take one, and delivering audio clean enough to drop straight into an edit. That last part is technical, not artistic, and it is where most amateur recordings fall over.

It is also why every voice here is auditioned by a person before being listed. A screening is not a comment on anybody's ambition; it is a promise to the client that if you book what you heard, you will get what you heard.

Getting more out of the first casting

Say who is speaking rather than how they should sound. "Professional and friendly" appears in nine briefs out of ten and moves nobody; "the colleague who explains the thing nobody else can explain" gets you a different take from every voice who reads it. Say who is listening, because a read aimed at customers is not the read aimed at staff. Say where the audio ends up, because that sets both the licence and the performance. And give a real deadline: voices choose what to read for partly by when it is due, so an invented rush gets you whoever happens to be free rather than whoever is right.

After you book

The money sits with the site until the job is delivered, which is what lets a voice start recording immediately rather than waiting on a purchase order. Notes, pronunciation lists and revisions live in the thread on the job page, so the whole history of a booking is in one place when somebody asks about it three months later. Files arrive as broadcast-standard audio, dry by default, and if you would rather have them edited, levelled and laid under music, production is a line on the rate card rather than a separate supplier.

Questions people ask

Online casting, answered.

How do I find voice talent online?
Two ways here. Post a free casting with your script and let voices audition for it, which is the fastest route to a decision, or browse and listen, then book the voice you want directly from their profile. Most people do both: cast, then keep the ones they liked as favourites for next time.
Do online auditions cost anything?
No. Posting a casting and listening to the auditions is free, and you are never committed to booking any of them. You pay when you choose a voice, at the rate published on the rate card.
How quickly can I have the finished audio?
Auditions usually arrive within hours of a casting going out. Once you book, most voice actors deliver inside twenty-four hours, and many the same day. If your deadline is tighter than that, say so in the casting and voices who cannot hit it will not read for it.
Can I talk to the voice actor?
Yes. Once a job is booked there is a message thread with the voice on the job page, which is where notes, pronunciations and revisions live. Some clients prefer to direct the session live over a call, and that is a line on the rate card.
What if none of the auditions are right?
Then book none of them. It has cost you nothing, and you can post again with a sharper brief, which usually fixes it: the more specific the direction, the closer the reads.
Is my script safe to post?
Only the voices invited to your casting see it, and it is there to be read aloud, not published. If your script is under embargo, post an excerpt or a stand-in of similar length and send the real one after you book.
